Only 1 sleep to go...

Till Ella's 3rd birthday extravaganza!
She is so excited and to be honest, so are we!
Her cake is in the oven baking away, and then its up to me to transform it into a butterfly. Cross your fingers for me, I've never attempted anything beyond basic icing before and that hasn't always turned out well either!
Will post pictures if it doesn't turn out too disastrous.
House is cleanish, just need to do a vacuum and mop after the cooking has finished for the day, then there are presents to wrap, balloons and streamers to hang and perhaps a sign for the front door.
Can't wait!

The Anti-Birthday!

Today Ella turns 3, but she disagrees.
She hasn't really had presents, or cake, or a party, therefore it can't really be her birthday!
She is happy to wait until Saturday when she has all her little friends and family coming to celebrate with us.
It is hilarious listening to her talking to all the family that have rung to wish her a
happy birthday and then hearing her say so vehemently "No!! It's not today!"
Remaining unconvinced hasn't stopped her from milking it a little.
She told me this afternoon that she wanted fish and chips for dinner, and then talked me into buying her some lollies at the vending machine while we waited!
Happy Birthday my beautiful wee girl, I love you so much!

Sick Bubba!

Yes, yes, she is nearly 3, but she will always be my little bubba!

It is such an awful time when your children are sick.
Every instinct you have as a parent is to protect them and take away their pain and discomfort, and when you can't do that, you feel absolutely helpless and unqualified.
I am so lucky that my 2 are such generally healthy little monkeys because I worry so much about them anytime they are unwell.
Ella has had some kind of un-named virus for the last 3 days. Poor little sausage has been absolutely roasting and miserable with 39.9 degree fevers.
Today she seems better though, thank goodness. The quiet cuddles are lovely, but it is just so sad when you know they're not themselves so it is such a relief to hear her chatterboxing and singing away to herself again!

What are we up to?
For the purposes of looking back on this..
Ella is about to turn 3 and is so darn smart and adorable! (with semi-regular, horrifying flashes of 'threenager' attitude)
She is enthusiastic about everything she does and very determined. She has a fantastic imagination and it is so amazing to watch her play and create.
She's also really affectionate, loves cuddles and regularly tells us all that she loves us :)))))



Benjy is coming up to 10 months and has just started walking!
He is such a laid back little guy and his smile is so infectious. We'll catch him getting up to mischief and he'll just give us this huge grin, you just can't help but smile back at him.
He loves to eat, and to follow his sister wherever she goes. (often to her consternation) and he is definitely part monkey. I keep catching him climbed halfway up things!!!


Me and Aaron... are just up to our usual tricks :) Always busy and mostly happy.

For so long I have been telling myself that I need to start writing stuff down.
'Stuff' being general family occurrences, milestones, cute things the kids have said or done... all the cool stuff we want to be able to look back on and remember.
Blogging is such an easy way to do this, and it also means all the family and friends we have overseas can keep up to date with us!
